How Much Would That Cost Series: Building a Shed!

Need to store your items before winter really sets in? Wondering what it would cost?

Based on the most popular process for building an outdoor shed, we asked four of our Skilled Doers what they would quote.

1). Where do I start?

Examine all of the items that need to be stored. How big do you need the shed to be? After understanding the dimensions, you can buy pre-made shed from most home improvement or hardware stores. You will need:

  • A base

  • A pre-made outdoor storage unit

Keep in mind that once built, sheds are relatively permanent! The first step will be to create your base.

2). What are most common types of bases?

  • Gravel (the fastest option)

  • Pavers (pre-made, easy to install)

  • Pressure treated wood (the most popular option)

  • Concrete (strongest, takes 7 days to set)

3). How much will it cost? (This is based on building a shed with pressure treated wood).

  • Skilled Doer A: $635

  • Skilled Doer B: $800

  • Skilled Doer C: $840

  • Skilled Doer D: $1300

Pro tip:  What you pay doesn’t always matches the quality of work you get, yet we always recommend that you take the time to look over the Skilled Doer's reviews and expertise before awarding your job.
